I'm Back!

As I think every one of my followers know, my life has been consumed with Mickey's health issues since April and I have completely neglected my blog.  It has been a long road and we're not at the end of it yet, but progress has been made and we are moving forward.  Needless to say, my creative life has been lived inconsistently.  I've created art here and there, taken a few classes, but not really gotten into the creative groove I was hoping for before Mickey started having health issues.

This past week we rented a cabin the White Mountains with my stepson and his family.  Our cabin was right on the lake.  We had our own dock and a huge deck overlooking the water.  The temperature never got higher than 82, which was such a blessing for Mickey.  We got up at dawn every morning, grabbed our coffee, sat out on the deck and watched the world wake up before our eyes.  I felt more at peace than I have felt in months.

I brought a small amount of art supplies with me and managed to get some art in every day.  I did a page in my art journal, practiced my lettering and rediscovered photography.  Of course it helps when you have beautiful scenery and people you love to photograph, but I started remembering about composition - the rule of thirds - and making sure that every picture told a story (didn't Rod Stewart have an album with that title?).  I found myself falling in love with the camera all over again.

I hope to blog more consistently now, sharing my art and maybe a little bit of life along the way.

  2. What a wonderfully relaxing time and to be able to spend it with your darling grandchildren must have been heaven. Every moment must have been magical for them. I love your photographs. You have always taken such wonderful pictures and these in particular capture the serenity of being by a lake.
