Memories of 2010

Prompt:

Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes.  Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember in 2010.

I most want to remember my niece Laura’s wedding and the wonderful week we spent in Texas with my brother in law David, his wife Julie and all of my Bufford family that was in attendance.  David loves his daughters to distraction.  I know that when the girls were young he had trouble visualizing giving either of them away, but he had no problem giving Laura away to Dan and as I got to know Dan better that week, I could see why, because he is a good man.  Julie was almost as beautiful as the bride and I felt such tenderness towards my sister in law who helped me so much when my first husband died.

I most want to remember spending a long weekend in San Diego with Mike Jr., Amber and the twins.  We all stayed in our 5th wheel and didn’t kill each other!  It was so much fun to experience Sea World through Kaden & Kianna’s eyes.  The last morning we were there, the twins crawled in bed with us while Mike & Amber slept and we had so much fun giggling while they tried on our glasses and chattered away.

I most want to remember the month we spent in Michigan with extended family.  Trina, George and George’s mother Mary Ann are so dear to us.  When we are together it is like family because we are so comfortable together.  It’s easy.  You can’t say that about everyone you visit.  After we visited them, we spent the rest of the time with our Bufford family.  I have known all of these people since my early 20’s.  I have always felt like they were cousins, but what is even better is that we are all friends.  We truly enjoy spending time together.  How lucky am I?

I most want to remember our week in Florida with Mickey’s cousins Marlene, Tom & Ritzy.  We saw all kinds of Florida wildlife from egrets to alligators.  We spent an afternoon at the famous Bock Gardens.  We ate way more than we should have and enjoyed every bite.

I most want to remember Thanksgiving week.  Kathi & the girls came down and spent Thanksgiving with us and my cousins.  They had never met each other, but everyone got along great.  Lots of times during that week I would be walking through the house and see little groups of people here and there, getting to know each other.  It filled me with so much happiness because of the love I feel for all of these people.

I most want to remember our weekend in Albuquerque with our cousins Mike and Bill.  We always have such a good time with them.  Their annual Christmas party starts the season for their crowd of friends and we were pleased to be a part of it this year.

And I most want to remember the joy we felt when Mike and Amber got engaged.  I will never forget Amber jumping up and down, crying and laughing with sheer joy and the grin on my stepson’s face because this time, he knew he had the woman of his dreams.
