We spent a couple of days in Eagle Co. by ourselves. It's about an hour west of Vail - very cool little town with a great downtown area. We had to stop at Yeti's - great coffee. Mine was S'More, which was comfort in a cup. We did a lot of sightseeing around the area. The view is from high atop one of the neighborhoods. Because of its proximity to Vail, homes are VERY expensive.
We made it to my cousin Steve's Thursday afternoon. Friday we went to Tequila's, our favorite Grand Junction hang out for lunch and a Margarita. Maretta & I walked through downtown Grand Junction - lots of shops with local arts & crafts, some cool dress shops - we didn't have time to see it all. We met the guys at Crossover Farms where Noelani (Steve & Maretta's daughter) has been volunteering at a kid's camp. It was the final day of the camp and we ate home made ice cream and cookies baked in an old fashioned stove. Afterwards, Noelani gave us a tour of the farm. She's amazing with dates and numbers. She has a big career as a tour guide or a docent.
Today we are driving to Grangely to pick up Caitlin from music camp. She is learning to play the viola and this was a whole week of intensive instruction. We'll get to see her perform and it will be wonderful to watch all the kids play. Caitlin plays piano, keyboard & viola. She starts guitar lessons soon. Both girls love to sing and they have performed in community theater.
We leave for home Monday. It's been a wonderful trip, but I can't wait to be back chome with family & friends. I miss my routine and I know the dogs hate being put in a kennel for hours at a stretch when we have to go somewhere.
I have really enjoyed keeping this vacation blog and I appreciate all my readers. I am giving thought to keeping it up, but I will need some kind of topic otherwise it's a vanity thing.
