Lightening Bugs!

Every RV park has it's own unique personality. Last night we stayed at the Glo-Wood RV Park in Pendleton Indiana, about 20 miles out of Indianapolis (hey Del & Deanna!). It is aptly named - we pulled in around 8 last night, just past dusk and yours truly was absolutely delighted because there were LIGHTENING BUGS! When I was a kid, we would go outside after dark and see how many lightening bugs we could catch in a jar. Mom or Dad would punch holes in the lid and we would put a little grass inside. We would collect as many as we could - a jar full of blinking lights - until we had to go in for the night and then we set them free. It is absolutely one of my favorite childhood memories. I was telling the Park Owner(same age as me) about that and he said he used to do exactly the same thing. I wonder what kids do today?

Anyway, the park is beautiful as you can see by the photo. One side is a huge field of beans, the other side is a very dense forest where there are some rv's parked for more than just over nite. I wish I could have taken a picture showing the glow of the lightening bugs in the forest as they blinked on and off. It's quiet and charming here. Kinda hate to leave, but we are only 6 hours from our destination.

We drove through Missouri yesterday and I have determined that their two major industries are fireworks and adult video stores. I say that because there was a billboard advertising one or the other about every 10 feet.

Time to pull up stakes and head for Michigan!
